Training Outline

Prior to each training, registered participants are asked to complete an on-line Capabilities Awareness Profile and a pre-test of course concepts. CAP Results are provided during the training.

DAY 1 – Measuring Client Outcomes (PCFI)

  • PCFI Pre-Test

  • Emotional Intelligence Overview
  • Self-Efficacy theory, mechanisms, and processes
  • Experiential Integration – Self-Efficacy
  • Perceived Competence of Functioning Inventory (PCFI)
    • Purpose and utilization of outcomes
    • Test construction and psychometrics
    • Applications and case studies
  • Distribute personal CAP profiles with interpretive guide
  • Assigned reading

DAY 2 – Using Outcomes to Develop Client Relationships (CAP)

  • Review Day 1 – Check-in
  • Capabilities Awareness Profile (CAP)
    • Comparison of CAP vs. PCFI
    • CAP Scales and Subscales
    • Interpreting and using CAP profiles
    • CAP© applications and case studies
    • Ethics and Informed Consent

DAY 3 - Integration & Application

Our training method is diverse. Discussion, mixed media, role-play, brief lecture, and experiential practice are included.

The impact of this training is assessed through program evaluations, test proficiency, participant interactions during experiential integration activities, and changes in PCFI scores.

Objectives and Anticipated Outcomes

Upon completion participants will be able to:

  • Describe at least two different models of change.
  • Define the construct of emotional intelligence and relevant research.
  • Identify the positive psychology perspective in assessing human potential.
  • Discuss an integral approach to understanding human behavior.
  • Discuss the theoretical and research basis of the CAP© & PCFI©.
  • Describe the construct of self-efficacy, including core processes and mechanisms of change, and implications for human performance and behavior.
  • Demonstrate competence in the ethical use of the CAP© and PCFI©.
  • Apply knowledge about the psychometric properties of the CAP©.
  • Demonstrate competence in the appropriate applications of the CAP© and PCFI©.
  • Describe the concepts of reliability, validity, effect size and measures of central tendency.
  • Demonstrate competence in coaching and consultation using the CAP©.
  • Demonstrate competence in utilizing and interpreting the PCFI for outcomes.
  • Successfully pass an examination of these core competencies contained in these objectives.

Training is located at Prairie View in Newton, Kansas. Newton is 20 miles North of Wichita and easily accessible via the Wichita airport. Hotels and restaurants are conveniently located. On-site Certification Training is also available.

  • Approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education credit for psychologists. The Prairie View Learning Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program is being offered for 18 hours of continuing education for psychologists.
